It is mandatory to link Aadhaar card of beneficiaries in every public welfare scheme of the government. In particular Aadhaar card has been made mandatory for various schemes like food security ration card, Pradhan Mantri Abhash Yojana, Arunoday , Ujjwala, Jandhan etc. It is not even possible to link Aadhaar with bank account, PAN card for these people.

The rice ration of thousands of poor people has been cut off as beneficiaries of food security ration cards are unable to link their Aadhaar cards. Hundreds of lakhs of people in Assam are deprived of in-house government facilities without being able to make Aadhaar card. According to the information received, 27,43,396 people in the whole of Assam have not been able to generate Aadhaar card so far. Because, their biometrics were taken during NRC verification. It has been learned that the state government is not able to take any action in this regard due to pending civil registration case in the Hon’ble Supreme Court. However, a sub-committee of the cabinet was formed to solve the problem of those deprived of Aadhaar cards in the state and discussions were also held with various organizations including ASU. But there was no solution. Because the matter is pending before the court.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that 94.90 percent people in Assam have managed to get Aadhaar card till December 31, 2023. As a result, it is almost certain that the Aadhaar-deprived people will be deprived of various government benefits. On the other hand, the government and the concerned district administration are well aware of all this, but they are busy asking the Aadhaar-deprived people for Aadhaar cards again and again. Already in Goalpara district, the Food and Civil Supplies Department has been accused of publicly announcing that the Aadhaar card-deprived people have been deprived of their ration cards. did not The only thing the state government is saying is that it is not possible to solve the problem as the matter is pending before the Supreme Court. As a result thousands of poor and genuine beneficiaries in Assam are deprived of various government benefits including ration card rice.

According to the information received, biometrics of 98,824 people were taken in Goalpara district alone during NRC verification. The number of Barpeta Zela was 2,22,883. 1,17,537 in Dhubri, 1,31,457 in Bangaigaon, 1,03,983 in Baksa, 41,804 in Nalbari, 35,072 in Chirang, 57,186 in Kokrajhar, 28,594 in South Shalmara Mankachar, Dima Biometrics were collected from 6,101 people in Hasawa, 56,702 in Karbi Anglong and 32,242 in West Karbi Anglong District.
