Frequent road accidents are happening in several places of Cachar. Many have already died in these places. Ten of these places have been identified as accident prone areas. The administration has declared them as ‘black spots’. District Magistrate Cachar Rohan Kumar Jha visited those places on Friday.It has been observed since one year that vehicles are getting into accidents in certain places of the district. It should be noted that in the last three years, several terrible accidents have occurred in these areas. Many people were injured. Most of the places identified as black spots are on national highways. Therefore, where speed breakers cannot be installed, warning boards with rumble strips will be installed to warn motorists. Also, the District Magistrate has directed the concerned departments to construct speed breakers, install reflective mirrors for road safety at Rangpur, Tarapur and Ramnagar bypasses in Silchar.
