Scheduled for 10 Seats in Goa, Gujarat, and west Bengal says Rajya Sabha elections.

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India has recently disclosed the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections for 10 seats in the states of Goa, Gujarat, and West Bengal. These elections are set to take place on July 24, as the terms of several Members of Parliament (MPs) are nearing their end. Among them is the distinguished External Affairs Minister, S.Jaishankar, who currently serves as an MP in the Upper House representing Gujarat.

The Election Commission has released the schedule for these elections, with the official notification scheduled to be issued on July 6, signaling the commencement of the nomination process. Aspiring candidates will have until July 13 to file their nominations, while the last date to withdraw candidatures will be July 17. Polling for the Rajya Sabha seats and vote counting will occur on July 24. In addition to the aforementioned elections, the Election Commission has also announced the same schedule for a bye-election to fill a vacant seat in West Bengal. This seat became available after Trinamool Congress MP Luizinho Joaquim Faleiro resigned on April 11. Faleiro’s term was initially scheduled to last until April 2, 2026.
