Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated North East’s first AIIMS (All India Institute Of Medical Science) hospital in Guwahati. However, according to Executive Director Ashok Purnaik, some services, such as limited OPD for locals and patient care service had already been started in August or September of last year.
Purnaik stated during a news conference that roughly 85% of the construction is already finished. Already, the clinical department is caring for 150 patients every day on average. Services like pharmacy, daycare, laboratory resources, and radiological exams will be offered in this.
The officials further said the hospital will provide “high – quality patient care services” across various specialties including neurology, cardiology, burns & plastic surgery.
Assam’s neighbours, including Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Tripura, also benefit from AIIMS Guwahati.
Speaking of academic activities, there are now three batches of students, and this year’s fourth batch will begin in July or August. 199 MBBS students, 78 academic members, 125 nursing officers, and 12 senior residents are all present at AIIMS Guwahati, according to Punik.
