Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli receives national award For best Voting Awareness Programme

SILCHAR: Cachar Deputy Commissioner and District electoral officer, Silchar, Keerthi Jalli has received national award under the category of ‘Best Electoral Practices Award, 2021’ for ‘Voter Awareness’. She received the award from Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra on Tuesday at Delhi on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, stated a press release.

The EC announced the list of awardees for the national awards in different categories on Saturday. Also the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, headed by Chief Electoral Officer Nitin Khade has been selected for the National Award for ‘Best Electoral Practices Award. 2021′ under the category of Best Performing State’ for ‘Election Management’.

The selection is done based on the overall performance of various areas of election management during the Legislative Assembly Election conducted in the State in 2021.

Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli under Systematic Voters Education and Electronics Participation (SVEEP), took several initiatives to spread awareness among the voters to exercise their constitutional right in the Assam Assembly election 2021. From sand art at the banks of Barak to creating national record by painting longest ever street art on East West corridor at Dolu, many initiatives were taken to sensitise the voters and attract them in the electoral process.

While sharing her ecstasy, Cachar DC said, “It is a great honour for me to receive this award from Election Commission of India.

It is the second time I have had the blessings to receive it at the National level. I dedicate this award to the 10000 govt employees of Cachar who have joined hands for successful conduct of elections in Cachar including BLOs, department heads, police, breastfeeding lady teachers who left their babies at home, health team and many others.”
