Unvaccinated govt staff barred from entering office in assam

The state’s new SOP, which has come into effect from January 15, states that all employees who are not fully vaccinated will not be allowed to attend office and they will have to avail leave, if available, or extra ordinary leave for which they will not be paid salary. It also said that “non-vaccinated people shall not be allowed entry in public places/ spaces (except hospitals) w.e.f. January 15, 2022. All people are required to carry proof of being fully vaccinated while visiting public places/spaces” and the owners of public and private establishments will be responsible for ensuring that only those who are fully vaccinated are allowed inside.

There are nearly 50 lakh people in the state in the working group of above 18 years who are yet to be fully vaccinated.

It is not mandatory to get vaccinated. But it is mandatory to be fully vaccinated for coming to office.” He added If someone does not take vaccine and stays at home, we have no objection. But that person cannot come to meetings, office, malls or restaurants without being fully vaccinated.”

He also said “in Assam, if necessary, one has to show the fully vaccinated certificate. We cannot allow any behaviour which is against the well-being of the people.

Assam chief secretary Jishnu Baruah told TOI, “Those government employees who are not fully vaccinated will have to take leave. And then if they do not have any leave, it will be leave without pay. They cannot show as entitled leave.”
Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) chief executive officer Gyanendra Dev Tripathi said all districts have been instructed to enforce the ‘fully vaccinated’ condition for entering offices and public spaces strictly. “In fact, many shopping malls have already enforced this before the SoP came into force,”
