GUWAHATI: Amidst the ongoing ‘war on drugs’ in Assam, Guwahati police arrested nine people allegedly linked with trafficking drugs on Wednesday, August 11. The Paltan Bazaar Police Station (PS) and Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) apprehended nine persons linked with drug trafficking and peddling. The city police have seized 136 containers, each priced at approximately Rs 2000, with suspected Heroin (19 gram), cash worth Rs 12,200 and mobile handsets. Two cases were registered with five arrested and 10.20 grams of heroin recovered along with a vehicle and cash on Monday, while two were arrested and 25 grams of brown sugar recovered on Tuesday. In similar instances of arrests amid the ‘war on drugs’ in Assam, the Sadiya Police, based on a secret input by the Dholla PS, raided the house of one Lila Bahadur Chetry of Hakhati Nepali Gaon and seized 20 gm opium wrapped with a cloth. The accused was arrested and legal action has been initiated.
